The slogan above is rather a motto then a literal excerpt.
The vision of the "people unifying and nations reconciliating virtue of the cultural element aircraft" is traditional in a letter from Otto Lilienthal to Moritz von Egidy from 1894 and in a lecture script "About the Progress in Flight Technique" ("Über den Fortschritt in der Flugtechnik") from 1895. Information von Dr. Bernd Lukasch, ( Leiter des Otto-Lilienthal-Museums in Anklam)
I want to call this slogan the Lilienthal Vision.
In 1987 during the construction of the Aviator Training Centre (Fliegertrainingszentrum - FTZ) of the airline Interflug the slogan was attached to the cladding of the eastern simulator hall. (see: Picture of the Aviator Training Centre - 1987)
Since about 1991 it lingers in a moderate format and in slightly modified wording on a sign left to the entry to the training centre. Unfortunately it is pretty hidden over there and visitors and even employees hardly take notice of it. (See: Sign at the entry to the training centre - 2005
It is worth to spend more then a second to think about a new effective spot for the Lilienthal Vision at the training centre buildings. (See: Vision - 200X)
